First up on our tour is the bathroom ….the one and only! It is also known as the room that arguably needs the MOST work.
So, the bathroom. The poor, poor bathroom. Half of it is falling to pieces and the other half, well, I ONLY wish it was falling to pieces. If only for the fact it would make demo-ing it easier!
It was last remodelled in 1987. Can you tell?! That officially makes it older than me! The tiles, the walls, the toilet, the sink and even the tub are all same shade of flesh-y/skin-tone/peach… which I’m sure was quite stylish back in the day, but is looking rather shabby these days.
The ceiling is a bit of a mess. In the 70s they had polystyrene tiles glued to it (because that was apparently fashionable then). We had them removed before we moved in and now the ceiling desperately needs re-dry-walling! There is also a lovely little corner in the wall that is literally rotting away. Needless to say, we are going very European and tiling all the walls floor-to-ceiling. As much as I would love to wallpaper some of the bathroom, it’s just not practical in such a damp, humid country!
The floors are linoleum that have started to bubble underneath. Though, for 29 year old linoleum, it’s held up kind of remarkably well!
The shower with its electric box that “conveniently” heats the water will be long gone! I CANNOT wait to take a shower with some actual water pressure.
Basically, everything except the window and door will be going. Can’t wait to show you guys my plans!
